Keeping It Real

Authentic and real. This is the Christ-following that is described over and over in the Word of God. Engaged, non-religious, Kingdom spirituality. The Jews struggled to find it. Historic

christianity has most-times misinterpreted it. Whatever your pursuit of God includes, it must be rooted in Truth and humility to be authentic. And of course, that is the challenge.

One of our favorite insight windows into what happened in the wake of the well-eyewitnessed life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus occurs in Colossians 3:1-17. Today we would like to highlight different aspects of what this looked like in the lives of these early Christ-followers. To understand this we must connect with both internal realities and external evidences.

The Colossian’s hearts were being overtaken by the Gospel of peace. The connections ran deep. On the inside followers were being transformed. On the outside they were exchanging futility for substance. Let’s ENGAGE together!

“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And He said to him, “‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’ This is the great and foremost commandment.

“The second is like it, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.” – Matthew 22:36-40
