Generational Achilles

(Read the Curious Journey essay on page 89. A huge help to understanding why things are the way they are!)

It is difficult to quantify or estimate the impact one generation has upon another. We do studies. We speculate. We opine. The reality is that we have a huge impact upon our children and our children’s children – whether we try to or not.

“This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.”  – Joshua 1:8

“As for man, his days are like grass; as a flower of the field, so he flourishes. When the wind has passed over it, it is no more, and its place acknowledges it no longer. But the lovingkindness of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children’s children, to those who keep His covenant and remember His precepts to do them.”  – Psalm 103:15-18

What are the strengths your parents and grandparents passed on to you? The weaknesses? What about your children? Where have you strengthened them and where have you fallen short? How would you define your core? Their core?

What are the things you pray for those whom you love?

A good generational song
