Kingdom Courage revolves around the strength of the King of Heaven and Earth. It is not so much that courageous living comes naturally, but that we are to act in principled courage, following the lead of our Master. Let’s take a look at this thread and see what it teaches us about living a courageous Kingdom life.
√ GOD IS MANY THINGS – ONE OF WHICH IS A WARRIOR “The Lord is a warrior – the Lord is His name.” Exodus 15:3
√ Where does courage come from? By following and emulating the One Who IS courage. “For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things. But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you. Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.” Luke 12:30-32
√ How does God-courage transfer to us? By waiting for His courage to unfold within us. “Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord.” Psalm 27:14
√ What does ultimate courage look like? It is FEARLESS and pure.
“And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many crowns; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.” Revelation 19:11-16
√ What does courage require from me? A warrior mind-set.
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, having surrounded your vulnerability with truth, putting on the breastplate of righteousness and having prepared your feet in the courageous Gospel of peace. In addition take up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Also take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:10-17
√ How do I fight?
“… in purity, in knowledge, in patience, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in genuine love, in the word of truth, in the power of God; by the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and the left…” 2 Corinthians 6:6,7
√ Why do I fight?
“For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:6-8
Pretty cool thread – worth immersing ourselves in it!
