What would you give for the welfare of your baby? Your growing children? Your children as they give themselves to their own children?
I suppose the answer depends upon what value you place on their existence – upon the essence of who they are.
It is easy to look at what God does from a man-at-the-center viewpoint. This all-too-common approach views mankind at the epicenter of meaning, with the Creator responding (or reacting) to our human experience.
The Word of God’s view is much more God-centric, however. Everything in the God Story begins with God. It is all about Him. Whatever occurs on earth in the brief period where time is relevant is completely subjected to what brings Lord God the most honor, glory, and pleasure. This is crystal clear in the pages of the God Story.
Our talk today revolves around why we would make a choice to live in light of a God-centric world-view. It is our belief that true meaning and peace of heart and mind are rooted here. Enjoy!
“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities — all things have been created through Him and for Him.
He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.
For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.” – Colossians 1:15-20
