Elijah: Hearing The Voice

Solomon’s story is over but his family legacy remains.

Now the kingdom of history’s greatest peace-time king will fracture into two kingdoms: Israel in the north and Judah in the south. The remainder of 1 and 2nd Kings tell the story of this divided kingdom.

You will find the attached chart invaluable as you work your way through the accounts of these two kingdoms. The relationship of the kings to the prophets should not be underestimated. This was the context for the prophesies of Isaiah – Zephaniah. The final three prophets: Haggai, Zachariah, and Malachi – speak to Israel as they return from 80 years of captivity.

Follow this helpful guide as you triangulate each king, prophet, and the nature of each king’s story and their impact upon the people of God. Spend time contemplating Elijah and Elisha.

Saul had no heart – David a whole heart – and Solomon half a heart. The kings of the divided kingdom have scattered hearts. Some are honoring to God, many are not. Kind of the story of the entire human race, is it not? Here you will find many heart lessons as you seek to serve the true King of the earth!

“And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself.

He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty.

And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “king of kings, and Lord of Lords.”  – Revelation 19:11-16
