We now hear from one of Jesus’ closest companions while He lived on the earth. His Mom Mary and His dad Joseph and brothers and sisters certainly had a special window into His miraculous life. And His cousin John (the Baptist) must have been interesting at family reunions. Peter, James, and John were close to Him. The twelve. Lazarus, Mary, and Martha – and many others were dear friends.
John the apostle provides a penetrating inside look into the day to day experiences, miracles, and teachings of the Son of God. Because he was THIS close he provides unique insight as the ultimate “watcher” of the entire public ministry of Jesus. Because of this, the Gospel of John is probably the most relational of the four.
John also appears to be one of the last recorded books of the so-called new testament, along with John’s delivery of the book of Revelation. Incredible reflections on this revolutionary Life!
“This is the disciple who is testifying to these things and wrote these things, and we know that his testimony is true. And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they were written in detail, I suppose that even the world itself would not contain the books that would be written.” – John 21:24-25
