We are beginning to pull together a current core set of ideas for this time around. As we mentioned earlier, these conversations are not one-and-done. Even when the kids were young we set aside time to be alone. We caught up – but we also talked about where we were going as a couple and as a family. This has served us well.
This checklist takes some of the principles and ideas we have looked at in our Strong Home Workshop and helps us to come up with a working strategy for, let’s say, the next 6-12 months. Things will change, of course, but adaptability is possible, even when we are stretched in our parenting demands.
“The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil.” – Ecclesiastes 12:13,14
When all has been said and done, here is our family destination:
“Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve Him; they will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads.
And there will no longer be any night; and they will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them; and they will reign forever and ever.” – Revelation 22:1-5
And now in a song to sing with your kids
Don’t sweat the outcome. This is in God’s hands. Press forward and enjoy the process. Remember, God is our companion in our home-life, and the more we honor Him and welcome Him to be with us the more we will learn – and the stronger our faith will become!
