“As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, or if due to good health and strength, eighty years. Yet days of self-meaning and pride result in labor and ultimate loss; for soon our days and deeds are gone and we fly away. Who understands the power of Your anger and Your fury, according to the honor and awe that is due You? So teach us, Lord, to count the value of each of our days, so we may present to You a heart of wisdom birthing good deeds.” – Psalm 90:10-12/by Moses
I read this entire Psalm the morning of my birthday. I had completed an early walk and turned toward the west to a breathtaking, post-storm sky. The snapshot evoked worship from my soul – and my God-moment for my God-day was set into motion.
We enjoyed time with many true friends, my four sister’s somewhat surprise arrival (all younger than me and able to travel), well-wishes from sweet hearts from next door, my grands making time from their busy college lives to bring their friends to celebrate and enjoy an awesome birthday orchestrated by my lovely Burnadette, and even an audio birthday card from my daughter and sons…wow. Happy birthday Dave.
People are the great treasures of life. Though we are each imperfect, it does not change the special nature of the image of God in each one of us. Thank you to all who have brought His image to my life. You are my treasures. Here’s to another year of courageous strength for us all. Selah!
