And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.” – Revelation 21:5
I think my favorite thing about belonging to my King is that I am a deep part of Him making all things new. A new earth. New heavens. A new me. A brand new reality, unencumbered by turbulence and imperfection. Hope can be difficult to grasp, but everything about eternity in Jesus is filled with hope. He made it so.
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband.
And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the dwelling of God is among men, and He will live among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”
He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.” Then He said to me, “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost.
“He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son. But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” – Revelation 21:1-8
“And I saw between the throne (with the four living creatures) and the elders a Lamb standing, as if slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth. And He came and took the book out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne. When He had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying:
“You are worthy to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth.” – Revelation 5:6-10
This all things new will incomprehensibly eclipse what we can currently imagine. A completely new world – a new existence!
This is where I want my heart to live. It helps me persevere. It encourages me that there is a reward for doing good and sharing. It assures me that my successes, failures, and sufferings on this earth have an ultimate purpose.
Jesus Centric immerses us in this coming new reality. So cool. And now we take a deeper look at what it means for a person to follow Jesus. Like Peter, James, John, and others He invites us to “leave our nets and follow Me.” This is how we move from here to a satisfying there. You will find these Engage Teachings helpful in doing just that.
