Matthew brings clarity to Jesus’ message of the Kingdom. King first, then Kingdom, then church. Did you know that the word church is mentioned only a couple of times in the Gospels, but the Kingdom over 100 times?
In episode 3 of Jesus Centric we looked at the King’s coming from Matthew. Today we discuss the Kingdom Soul. Jesus did not come to found a religion, but to launch an inside-out revolution of the soul. He invites us to embrace His kingship over our hearts, wills, and lives – and to deeply experience His Kingship.
Matthew tells us much more about our Jesus connection, and in episode 4 we discuss the circle of spiritual life: a pure heart, knowing God, doing kindness, and growing life. We also encounter the reality of angels within our human journey, as well as part of the thread of religion within the Jewish leaders. Jesus had much more conflict with these leaders than He did with Rome – or anyone else for that matter.
Being connected with God is completely tied to an understanding of His Kingdom. We are the recipients of God’s great gift of a new heart when we find and embrace Jesus as our Savior and Lord. That’s what episode 4 is all about.
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from you and awaken your inner man.” – Ezekiel 36:26
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17
