There is no doubt that Jesus healed specific individuals – probably numbering in the hundreds or even thousands. Whether a leper, blind person, men and women who were sick, and even those possessed by demons – Jesus’ authority was enough to heal.
So the question could easily be asked, “what is it in me that Jesus wants to heal?” Remember, Jesus raised from the dead. Where is He now? On His throne at the right hand of His Father! It is impossible for any person to navigate life un-impacted by turbulence and imperfection. This is why Jesus STILL heals. Seriously.
Before we enter into God’s Kingdom through Jesus (John 10) our spiritual father has been the evil one (the devil/John 8). Think what this means if it is true. Being born into a world at war leads us to believe lies and to make agreements which ensure we will be caught in various kinds of bondage all our lives. The nature and work of the adversary is to distract us from freedom and to serve him. Conversely, Jesus wants us to be free to be joined to Him in friendship – as we live out our earth days – preparing for our eternity to come.
God’s purpose within the war is to set people free from personal bondage. Why are things the way they are? So we can find Him, share in His victory, and experience forever WITH Him. We can be healed and set free to live in a transformed way. Our weaknesses can be addressed, and as our spiritual heart expands, we may more deeply connect with the Son, the Father, and the Holy Spirit.
Most counseling seeks to provide help and advice for living. While there are often benefits to this approach, it appears from the God Story that Jesus is not only our healer (the greek word sozo/He makes us whole), but He provides all we need to experience freedom through our relationship with Him. It appears we have all the ingredients we need to connect with the source of our freedom. This is personal and supernatural, available to all who call the authority of Jesus into our lives.
The Jesus as Healer approach helps you build bridges for your own process of freedom. It will help you find the true satisfied mind only God can provide, and complete Jesus’ fulfillment of the freedom described in Isaiah 61:1-3 (also Luke 4:16-21). He wishes to set us free emotionally through communication and companionship with Him; physically by reinforcing our identity and value as He protects and provides for us, and spiritually by teaching us His ways and bringing comfort to our souls.
You can choose to be guided through a process demonstrating how Jesus as Healer can be understood, experienced, and carried with strength into your future. We guide – but you take yourself through the process of connection. This can set you free to expand your own authentic faith, hope, and love. Through this process we pursue the two or more principle found in Matthew 18:18-20: “For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.”
Here is some of what happens:
√ Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the Father are invited to lead you through your own freedom process.
√ We help you survey your life to identify the things which sabotage, control – or lift you up.
√ Together we ask the Spirit to bring each of these items/issues before the throne of grace to find Jesus’ help.
√ We search for forgiveness for our part in rejecting Him and choosing self.
√ We pursue forgiveness for those who have harmed or uncovered us and become free, entrusting each person to God for His work: body, soul, and spirit.
√ We pray with you to halt the continued work of the adversary through forgiveness (Matthew 18:21-22).
√ We carefully join you in asking Jesus to sever any soul ties from our father the devil or other people.
√ We bring God promises into any emptied place as we move on from where we have been stuck.
√ We set a new or expanded personal trajectory of connection with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
√ We design and pursue a personal lifestyle which allows newness each day.
God the Father was quite clear in Exodus 15:26: He is our Healer. It is part of what unlocks our spiritual identity. Jesus healed many times. Matthew 4:23; Matthew 9:20; Matthew 14:36; Luke 4:40; (Malachi 4:2)
