A Woven Thread: Clarity From Chaos
When we honestly look at the world around us we can see that there is a deep chaos in the cosmos. All is not well. Something is either built wrong or has gone off the rails. Some people think this proves there is no God. Others believe we are getting what we deserve. Still others believe that the God Story has been giving us clarity about chaos all along.
Here are a few things from this thread:
A Question: Is there such a thing as good and evil?
A Reflection: What is the source/definition for mankind’s rebellion?
A Conclusion: Perhaps our honor is misplaced and our humility is lacking?
The Source of the Chaos of the Heart we are experiencing:
√ Redefining truth by our lies/what is the result of this?
“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!” Isaiah 5:20
√ Rejecting God’s Word about Himself and ourselves/leaves us groping around in the darkness.
“The Lord said to Samuel, “Listen to the voice of the people in regard to all that they say to you, for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me from being king over them.” 1 Samuel 8:7
√ Denying the deep pride in our fallen, human heart unnecessarily exposes us to the pain of chaos.
“I will also break down your pride of power; I will also make your sky like iron and your earth like bronze. Your strength will be spent uselessly, for your land will not yield its produce and the trees of the land will not yield their fruit.” Leviticus 26:19, 20
√ The spiritual battle all around us/we must embrace it to overcome it.
“You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44
√ Active pursuit of idolatry/we must resist and reject it.
“And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.” Romans 1:28-32
√ Why has God allowed such chaos and what is His purpose for the prevalence of evil? This may give us a clue!
“When all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself also will be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, so that God may be all in all.” 1 Corinthians 15:28
Perhaps all that is created is made for the one purpose of enhancing our Creator’s glory – and allowing us to share in that glory! “…so that you would walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.” 1 Thessalonians 2:12
Perhaps it does not begin and end with us.
