The warrior concept is woven into the entire God Story.
God is a warrior.
“Then Moses and the sons of Israel sang this song to the LORD, and said, I will sing to the LORD, for He is highly exalted; the horse and its rider He has hurled into the sea. The LORD is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise Him; my father’s God, and I will extol Him.
The LORD is a warrior; the LORD is His name. Pharaoh’s chariots and his army He has cast into the sea; and the choicest of his officers are drowned in the Red Sea.” – Exodus 15:1-4
See also Exodus 14:25; Deuteronomy 3:22; Joshua 23:3
He has called us to be warriors in the good fight. (1 Timothy 1:18/1 Timothy 6:12).
We will come with Him and we will reign with Him. (2 Timothy 2:12)
“And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself.
He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses.
From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” – Revelation 19:11-16
When God says all creation groans to be set free (Romans 8:18-25) it may be even more true for God’s warriors, farmers, and athletes than anyone! (2 Timothy 4:7-8/totally cool!)
Why do we engage in the war of faith?
To honor our Captain, of course! (1 Peter 2:25/2 Timothy 2:4)
This is just part of the Warrior thread in the God Story.
Thanks for fighting the fight of faith, warrior friends!
