God’s Shining Future

It is always cool to take a look at the prophecies of Daniel, especially in light of the end of days story told in the book of Revelation. It is really quite amazing that hundreds of years before Jesus died God saw fit to give the account of Daniel’s 70th week (Daniel 9:24-27). In this we see one of the most sweeping end-of-days prophecies in the God Story.

I was speaking with a young friend this week, and he said events of the book of Revelation were making him ill. This encapsulates Daniel’s alarm and John’s emotions  in Revelation 10:10: “I took the little book out of the angel’s hand and ate it, and in my mouth it was sweet as honey; and when I had eaten it, my stomach was made bitter.”

There is nothing pleasant about the events of the end of this age. God has been slapped in the face by humanity and this is how it will end. Hoping for a better outcome does nothing to soften the blow. What we would LIKE to happen is subjected to what WILL occur.

But for those who place faith in Jesus, the outcome will be remarkably different!

We will never die. (John 8:52)
All pain will be gone. (Revelation 21:4)
We will share His glory. (2 Timothy 2:12)
There will be never-ending wonder over His beauty, His intellect, His power, and His great grace!

Jesus is the heart of all prophecy, so whether we are processing “old testament” words or those from the gospels and letters, Jesus is home base. Check out the link below concerning His amazing new world! I think you will enjoy how Jesus’ words set the pace for everything before (the Law and the prophets) and all that will follow (the letters and the end of time.)

“And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.”
– Revelation 21:5
