One common mistake of philosophers and religious followers alike is taking God out of context. Has He spoken? What has He communicated? Or are we merely committed to making God into our own version of truth and reality?

I have often heard that you can make the Bible say anything you want it to. Doubtful, unless, of course, you are allowing mere humans to interpret God’s Word. On the other hand, if we allow God’s Word to interpret itself – the clarity of what is being said is astounding.

“So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.”  – 2 Peter 1:19-21

We can choose to live in a completely natural world and find many answers through true science and education. But this only answers part of who we are. What about the heart? The soul? The essence of who we are? It seems that only faith can speak to this part of who we are. What do you think?
