(Read the Curious Journey essay on page 55. Creativity and beauty are part of the very heart of God!)
Having grown up around artists, experienced art, and taken in the many forms of creativity found both in people and the observable macro and micro universe – I have concluded that our Creator is creative beyond anything I can imagine. The dim pictures we are able to perceive here will pale before the wonder that is surely the One Who made everything!
“For we know in part and we prophesy in part; but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known.” – 1 Corinthians 13:9-12
And you don’t need to be a painter to express God’s creativity. You and I ARE art. Because we are made in the image of God we are one-of-a-kind, and our special recipe has our own creativity. There will never be another you. There will never be another opportunity like yours and ours.
“Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” – Genesis 1:26,27
The big lie? That we do not matter. That the image of God does not really exist within us and around us. That there is no ultimate meaning – no purpose for our soul.
