It is easy to miss the passion of God’s heart and read the Bible only as a series of stories. However, an engaged Kingdom heart enjoys the richness of not only understanding God’s heart, but making my heart – His heart. So cool.
In this podcast we talk about two mentions of the amazing new heart experience God has promised to those who seek Him. The first is found in John 3:5-5.
Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again. The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
The second reflects a theme brought to us in the so-called old testament and woven throughout the God Story. Ezekiel 36:24-28 in the message states:
“For here’s what I’m going to do: I’m going to take you out of these countries, gather you from all over, and bring you back to your own land. I’ll pour pure water over you and scrub you clean. I’ll give you a new heart, put a new spirit in you. I’ll remove the stone heart from your body and replace it with a heart that’s God-willed, not self-willed. I’ll put my Spirit in you and make it possible for you to do what I tell you and live by my commands. You’ll once again live in the land I gave your ancestors. You’ll be my people! I’ll be your God!”
The next few posts in this series reflect on some aspect of this new heart. Enjoy!
