013: Cultivating Partner Memories

Wherever you find yourself in the stages of married life you are accumulating memories. As you well know, things unfold so quickly, it is truly difficult to stop and smell the roses (whatever that means).

That’s what this conversation exercise is all about. Each timeframe of our lives is filled with hundreds of memories, so even if you are just starting out, take the time to record some of your favorite or most poignant events and experiences.

What has brought you joy? Satisfaction? Encouragement? Hope? Pain?

What adventures have you shared?

What obstacles have you overcome?

What heartaches have you gone through together?

What things remain to be addressed?

Having gone through each of these stages and being well into our productivity years, we are grateful to have experienced a satisfied mind as individuals and keeping companionship as a couple. It is worth the effort and investment of heart!

“The last and final word is this: Fear God. Do what he tells you. And that’s it. Eventually God will bring everything that we do out into the open and judge it according to its hidden intent, whether it’s good or evil.”  – Ecclesiastes 12:13,14/Message

“For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it. In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.”  – Romans 8:24-27
