The stewardship of a family is incredibly practical in so many ways. The skills we cultivate, the values we instill, and the example we provide are all very powerful. But the most important ingredient of family life is spirituality. Connectedness with our Creator. Bending before His Son Jesus. Finding the hope of eternal life.
This occurs primarily through prayer. I heard a quote once I have carried with me: “After we have done all, we must count on God to do all.” We have responsibility to be good parents. But perhaps our greatest tool is going to the throne of God’s grace on behalf of those we love. What better thing can we impart to our growing family members?!
“Therefore I ask you not to lose heart at my trials on your behalf, for they are your glory. For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,
so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all Christ-followers what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.”
– Ephesians 3:13-19
The power of God unlocked into the hearts of those we love. Wow.
