We have begun to pursue various aspects of the war into which we are born.
Thousands of years before Jesus the Son appeared on the earth we were told He would come. The entire world died within the sin of Adam, yet we may each live through the work of the second Adam: Jesus. The prophecies, as well as Jesus’ own words, couldn’t be any more clear. He had come to set souls free. This would include helping those in the most pressing need:
AFFLICTED: soothed by powerful good news
HEARTBROKEN: comforted by the rest of God
CAPTIVES RELEASED: by the healing hand of Jesus Himself
IMPRISONED SET FREE: by chains of bondage falling off
BLIND RECOVERY: by the dropping of scales (Acts 9:18)
OPPRESSED DELIVERED: by God’s compassionate and powerful hand
“And He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He said “today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” – Luke 4:20-21/Isaiah 61
For Jesus – the war is all about setting souls free from bondage.
Joel 2:28-32 and the fulfillment in Acts 2:1-4 exemplified how this would occur. It would be His power wielded through the wind of the Spirit.
Praying about the war within our own city:
√ That God would bless and expand effectiveness for those who are dedicated to His Kingdom. John 4:31-38/co-laborers
√ That God would protect you/us and thwart the work of the evil one: overcoming soul devastation with truth. James 4:1-10
√ That God would use current turbulence to turn hearts toward true hope in Jesus.
Malachi 3:16-4:6
√ God-clarity for His church in our city – in doing good and sharing toward the most vulnerable (broken). Hebrews 13:13-16
√ That our great God would awaken sleeping souls in the Name of Jesus. Ephesians 5:14
“To grant those who mourn in Zion, giving them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle (clothing identity) of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, so He will be glorified.” – Isaiah 61:3/Strong & Dropping kingdom seed
“…for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ…” – 2 Corinthians 10:4,5
Jesus is our captain in our fight. He leads us in victory, just as He will do when He comes a second time!
Fighting and waiting with you,
