Woven into the Story is God’s sheep metaphor. It not only explains the nature of sheep, but also of shepherds. Most importantly it describes a clear picture of the “Good” and “Great” Shepherd of the sheep. Today Burnadette and I examine both the teaching of the God Story and the personal benefits we have experienced by embracing our sheep reality.
We have searched, considered our lives, and evaluated the deep benefits of following our Shepherd King. It has resulted in a peaceful, confident “satisfied mind” for both of us.
“Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord, equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.” – Hebrews 13:20,21
“I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me, even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd.” – John 10:14-16
Then I heard something like the voice of a great multitude and like the sound of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, saying, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.” It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.” – Revelation 19:6-8
