(Read the Curious Journey essay on page 43. What have you experienced regarding forgiveness thus far in your journey?)
In Matthew 18 Jesus teaches a parable about forgiveness. He does this in response to a question from Peter in 18:21. An even greater question has been posed in 18:1. This is the core context for Jesus’ teaching about forgiveness. This topic is woven into the core of all of His teaching. It is worth taking the time right now and investigating the Matthew 18 and the Luke 7 passage below.
The woman who anointed Jesus’ feet with her tears is another core example explaining the primacy of forgiveness. It is simply difficult to draw close to God without forgiveness – working from God to us and ourselves toward others. (see Luke 7:36-50) and the Luke 7 audio below.
If we are ever to find true freedom it will involve our personal interaction with God’s forgiveness of us and our forgiveness toward others.
“For this reason I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgiven, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little.” – Luke 7:47
