Many think the world will never end. Others believe there is a fixed timeframe until everything is rolled up. And others believe pondering such things is futile and even silly.
Some scoff/some fear/some know/some prepare:
“But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.” – 2 Peter 3:8-10
Each of us is faced with a last day. It is the nature of life. It is the promise of the Word of God. But the Bible also speaks of an end of this earth, and a renewing creation of something new. Here is some of the advice we are given by God about this:
- Give attention to well done living. Luke 19:17
2. Be informed about Who Jesus is and what He says. John 14:6
3. Look for a better country than the one we are living in. Hebrews 11:16
4. Focus on things above rather than things below. Colossians 3:1
5. Fix your hope completely on the grace to be revealed. 1 Peter 1:13
6. Let your friends and neighbors know the end will come. 2 Peter 3:8
7. Be ready. Be prepared. Be on the alert. Mark 13:37
“Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.” – 1 Peter 5:8,9
