Music Word Connectors #1

Worship music is cool and we know you also have locked and loaded all your feel good favorites on your phone as well, but here are 7 songs with words that come right from the Word and heart of God. Enjoy!

Song of The Wind (song link soon)
We wrote this after losing a great friend during covid. The words came first, the music about 18 months later, and now we are recording it at SongSmythe studio with various musical friends. Coming soon – in honor of Dave Bussard and the hope he embraced!

“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”  – John 3

Pray for Rain (video song link)
With this very important election and the condition of events here and abroad, we are engaging in active warrior prayers to the God of Heaven. It really is the best we can do (as well as make sure we prayerfully vote, obviously!).

“So rejoice, O sons of Zion, and be glad in the Lord your God; for He has given you the early rain for your vindication. And He has poured down for you the rain, the early and latter rain as before.”  – Joel 2:23

Difficult Days (song link)
We are surrounded by things that are clearly spoken of in scripture, and find ourselves in the middle of much difficulty. Nothing new – and our great God is ABOVE IT ALL!

“But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.”  – 2 Timothy 3:1-5

Perfect (song link)
God’s great gift is His Word to the world. Whether His Story or His Son (they are one, right?) our great God has given us everything – “seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.” (2 Peter 1:3)

Warrior (song link)
I wrote this in one phase of the fight that I have found myself in the middle of since being awakened by Jesus. We truly are in a spiritual war with huge consequences for our souls. (Warfare teaching link)

“…in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”  – Ephesians 6:16,17

Life Is A Storm (song link)
Turbulence is all around us, and no matter what we do to insulate ourselves bumpy waters will come. This song reminds me of both Jonah and Peter – and me! Turbulence Teaching Link

“When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.”  – Matthew 14:26,27

River of Life (song link)
This has always been a great family song – it seems to appeal to all ages and provides a great reflection of what Jesus teaches us through John the apostle in Revelation. It fires my hope.

“Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.”  – Revelation 22:1-2

Seven songs of reflective joy!
