I am God's Character

Think about all of the great men and women and youth in the GodStory who accomplished amazing things. I remember the first time it dawned on me that Abraham was a dirtbag (italics mine). This opened my eyes to the imperfections of all of God’s characters – save One. So began my journey of seeing “God’s strength perfected in my weakness.”

From the imperfect characters of the God Story we find pieces of God and faith, which when assembled into our own lives allows us to be on this incredible list. There are about 40 characters of faith in posts at Fourthstream. You can find the ones you wish to consider as you weigh your own life of faith. So awesome friends!

A brief God-review:

“And what more shall I say? For time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets, who by faith conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. Women received back their dead by resurrection; and others were tortured, not accepting their release, so that they might obtain a better resurrection; and others experienced mockings and scourgings, yes, also chains and imprisonment.

They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were tempted, they were put to death with the sword; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated (men of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts and mountains and caves and holes in the ground.

And all these, having gained approval through their faith, did not receive what was promised, because God had provided something better for us, so that apart from us they would not be made perfect.”  – from Hebrews 11

It is pretty cool to realize that we also are characters in God’s story of faith and time. What kind of character are you turning out to be? What is happening inside? How is that impacting your outside? It took only one young man and one of five smooth stones to bring down a monster. Seriously.
