Shelter

Jesus IS shelter. He chose to leave His privileged place to come to a hostile world where it was clearly foretold He would suffer and be rejected. He did this to provide shelter for millions. And this was not temporary shelter. It would extend into the next world – the world to come. Wow.

“As a result of this many of His disciples withdrew and were not walking with Him anymore. So Jesus said to the twelve, “You do not want to go away also, do you?” Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life. We have believed and have come to know that You are the Holy One of God.”  – John 6:66-69

When we provide shelter we extend the work of God through us. And we live in a very unsheltered world, don’t we?!

“He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me. He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. And whoever in the name of a disciple gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water to drink, truly I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.”  – Matthew 10:40-42
