Every family has blind spots. If you are fortunate enough to be a couple who is on the same page, it is often easier to identify our personal and family weaknesses in order to grow ourselves – as well as help our kids prepare for life.
It is good to be brutally honest about this conversation, so we can take our greatest weaknesses and turn them into positives. It is also key to know our family strengths so we can play to those and model and teach our kids how this works.
The fruits of the Spirit are what make Christ-followers successful. Why would it be any different for a family to aspire to these same traits?
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.”
– Galatians 5:22-26
